history of CFR

Founded in 1935 by two brothers, Leonard and Paul Reitz, as the insurance arm of one of the most active real estate development firms in Tulsa , CFR, Inc. has grown to become a dynamic leader in commercial insurance distribution.

When CFR began its operations, the agency primarily provided life insurance, personal coverages and commercial real estate development coverages.  As the agency grew, it expanded to include a wide variety of commercial insurance coverages developed and delivered with creativity and leadership.

Jack Allen, Jr., the current chairman, started his insurance career in 1970 with The Hartford Insurance Companies career development management program.  In 1974 he returned to Tulsa and began his career as an Insurance Agent.

Leonard Reitz retired in 1986, and Allen became president of the firm, retaining its name. The firm had about one office and 12 people.  CFR has grown and, quite literally, evolved significantly since 1986.  In addition to adding insurance producers and service staff, the firm has become an industry leader in developing a wide variety of creatively crafted commercial and industrial insurance solutions as well as risk management, employee benefits, and association coverages.

Today, CFR is one of the leading regional insurance firms in the Southwest.  The firm currently handles accounts in 3 offices and employs over 100 personnel. CFR serves clients throughout North America and further supports these clients’ activities worldwide.
