railroad protective liability program for contractors
Railroad Protective is a special type of liability insurance required when a project takes place on or near railroad tracks. (Commercial General Liability does not cover construction or demolition operations within 50 feet of any railroad property, railroad bridge, trestle, track, roadbed, tunnel, underpass or crossing.) This may leave owners, contractors and railroads with a significant coverage gap and added risk due to the proximity of work being performed within the railroad right of way.
contractors needing RPL coverage
Obtaining this insurance for smaller projects can be time-consuming and costly for the contractor. With the Railroad Protective Liability Program made available through CFR Risk Management, a company can save considerable time and money. In as little time as it takes to complete an online single-page application and send a check, by mail or through electronic payment, the Railroad Protective Liability coverage is in place. We consider this program a true time saver for the contractor. In return, both the contractor and the railroad are assured that the coverage provided will fully satisfy the Railroad Protective Liability requirements of the railroad.

railroad private drive RPL program
The Private Drive Railroad Protective Liability Program meets several important insurance needs with respect to liability of the owner of the Private Drives which cross the railroad tracks or railroad property.
The Private Drive Railroad Protective Liability Policy (PDRPL) has been created and filed with the States for use specifically to address this exposure. The Property owner purchases this policy in the name of the railroad, much like a traditional railroad protective liability policy, to satisfy the requirements set forth by the Railroad for use of the Private Roadway crossing railroad property.
