Saw dust, metal shavings, paint and other construction materials are the usual suspects for causing potentially harmful eye damage to construction workers. But for those who work outdoors, the sun is also the cause of irreversible damage to the eyes.
Without sunglasses, construction workers with repeated exposure to sunlight could be prone to eye damage, including sunburn to the cornea, skin cancer of the eyelids and accelerated aging of the eye tissue.

Protect your workers by encouraging them to wear protective eyewear that has side shield protection and make sure the protection blocks 95-100 percent of UV rays. Remind workers that they can be exposed to UV rays even on cloudy days.
